Besides making financial choices easier, MBNA also loves a bit of technology. With the help of technology, the bank made banking services available anytime and anywhere. This made credit cards easily manageable and made online payments and money transfers possible.
MBNA’s usage of technology led to the creation of the MBNA Card Services app in January 2022. The MBNA Card Services app is available on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, allowing more customers to access convenient banking methods.
I installed the MBNA Card Services app easily as it only requires AndroidOS 7.0 and up and iOS 12.0 or later. The MBNA Card Services app is entirely free, so I can enjoy its features without paying extra.
Managing Accounts on the MBNA Card Services App
One of the primary features of the MBNA Card Services app is account management. With the app, there are many things I can do to manage my accounts, like view pending transactions, check my transaction history, update my details, etc.
First, the app lets me know all the pending transactions on my accounts. It is helpful because I can keep track of the transactions that are yet to be successfully processed. For example, I will know if my payment for a certain purchase is still up for processing.
Transactions and statements are always given on the MBNA Card Services app, so I stay on top of everything happening with my account. Most transactions will appear in my online account within five days.
However, the MBNA Card Services app clarifies that sometimes it might be more than five days or less than five days, depending on the merchant or retailer. It is clear that all transactions that have not been processed yet will be labeled as “Pending Transactions.”
Updating Personal Details Through the MBNA Card Services App

Before I make online payments an option, I need to set up a Direct Debit on my MBNA Card Services app. The Direct Debit account will allow me to enjoy an automatic credit card payment for each month by setting the monthly among, minimum payment, a fixed percentage, etc.
This feature will let me improve my credit score because I will not miss out on any due dates.
Checking Credit Card Eligibility via the App
One of the most interesting features of the MBNA Card Services app is that it supports credit card eligibility. Before I decided to apply for a credit card, the MBNA Card Services app helped me assess if I have good records and am eligible for an MBNA credit card.
The eligibility feature is called Clever Checker, which can be activated once I tap the corresponding button to start. Before I proceeded with the Clever Checker, it helped me understand a few things about credit card eligibility.
First, it explained that the eligibility check did not affect my credit score. Regardless of how many times I use Clever Checker, my credit score will not move an inch. It will only be affected if I have transactions using my credit card.
In addition, the MBNA Card Services app lets me see my estimated credit limit before I apply. I liked that the Clever Checker will let me get an idea of how much I may get for my credit limit. This is beneficial because I can assess if the credit card offers will fit my needs.
Activating Credit Cards on the MBNA Card Services App
Aside from credit card applications, there are more things I can do with my MBNA credit cards on the MBNA Card Services app. The app supports activating and deactivating any of my MBNA credit cards.
This feature is beneficial if I lose my card, so I can easily deactivate or lock my account to avoid any unauthorized transactions. Deactivating my credit card also helps when I need to tighten my spending because of a limited budget.
When activating and deactivating a credit card, I only need to provide some personal details to prove my identity on the MBNA Card Services app.
Reporting Lost Cards Through the MBNA Card Services App
Even though the MBNA Card Services app supports deactivating or locking my card, it is best to report any lost card directly to the bank. MBNA reminded me that if my card is lost or stolen, I should let them know as soon as possible.
It will only take a few moments as I need to report the lost card online. To do it on the app, I need to look for the “Support” options on the home page. Then, click the “Report lost or stolen card” button and complete a few details.
The app provides a confirmation if my report was successfully noted.
Requesting a Card Replacement on the App
If I lose my credit card, I can request a replacement through the MBNA Card Services app. I only need to provide my Online Card Services account and personal details to do so, including my UK address.
By simply filling out the short form, I will be able to successfully request a new card. MBNA usually delivers the new card within five working days.
Freezing My Misplaced Card on the App
Interestingly, the MBNA Card Services app lets me restrict transactions on each card when I have misplaced them. There are several freezing actions that can be done to my cards via the MBNA Card Services app.
The general freeze card option stops most card transactions. The freeze abroad actions will stop ATM withdrawals and terminal transactions outside the United Kingdom.
It is also possible to freeze online and remote transactions, including in-app, phone, and mail order payments.
Lastly, the app lets me turn on the freeze gambling option that stops most gambling transactions within 48 hours.
Viewing My PIN on the App
Another interesting feature of the MBNA Card Services app is that I can view my PIN. It helps me remember my PIN whenever I forget it.
I do not need to risk locking my card because I cannot remember my PIN whenever I need to do a transaction. To use the feature, I need to specify which card I want to view my PIN for.
There is no need for me to visit a branch to manually request to change my PIN.
